Are your parents ready for their visitor visa?

Eight questions about their documents. We show what is missing and what can be sorted in India.

1. Are their passports valid for at least 6 months after the trip, with 2 blank pages?
2. Do they have the last 6 months of bank statements showing enough money for the trip (or will you cover it)?
3. Can they show ties to India, such as property papers, pension or family here?
4. Do you have an invitation letter and proof of your own status, address and income abroad?
5. Are their key documents in English, or already translated?
6. Do they have recent photos that meet the visa photo rules?
7. Have you arranged travel medical insurance for the trip?

Parents usually attend an interview at a US embassy or consulate in India, and waits for interview slots can be long, so start early. Check current wait times on the official US travel website.

What we do in India We collect and check their documents, arrange translations and photos, help book the visa centre appointment, go with them on the day, and courier anything you need.

Checklist last checked: 1 November 2026. We don't give immigration advice. The decision is always the embassy's.
